Cartoon Response

Arab-European League responds to cartoons with some of its own, with the remark "If it is the time to break Taboos and cross all the red lines, we certainly do not want to stay behind."

Samples below.

Caption to first : "Write that one in your diary Anne."

Caption to 2nd: "I don't think they are Jews." "We have to get to 6,000,000 somehow."

I don't find any of the cartoons funny. Neither those poking "fun" at the Jews/Holocaust, nor those poking "fun" at Islam/Mohammed.

What I see are pathetic, childish attempts to incite further division, hatred, and violence among people.

Some will defend the publication of them as an exercise in free speech. I wouldn't as I regard them as ignorant, puerile, political, and a grotesque exploitation of free speech, in other words, hate speech.

Why? Because I can see absolutely no good arising from them.

my 2 cents, fwiw. amj

What I found interesting about the Arab response was that they did not attack Jewish or Christian religious figures/gods, but the history of WWII and Jewish holocaust.

It is "taboo" and has become illegal in some countries to question holocaust history, numbers, etc.

Personally, I believe the Danish paper published the cartoons as instructed by their ruling elite, to further incite the "clash of civilization" the Anglos seem so intent on creating.

Of course the publication and reaction are soley for exploiting - but I think that about most adherents of religion too - ignorant and puerile.

Good observation. But isn't the history of WWII, especially the Jewish holocaust practically a religion? The biggest taboo, sacred cow? Seems so.

As for attacking Christian religious figures, I'm guessing that it would be less effective (at the moment). It's far simpler/easier to continue to pit Muslims against Jews and vice versa, especially today. Besides after having successfully fanned the flames of hatred and division, Christians and others can now join in the battles, consciously choosing "sides". See, it's all going according to the plan! grrr Ya just know the war mongers and profiteers are smiling in their sleep.

I too firmly believe that those initial cartoons (the ones mocking Muslims and Islam) have accomplished exactly what they were intended to do. Ancient propaganda tactic. And this factors big-time into the opening salvos for the next war/s in the Middle East. Iran? Syria? We'll soon see, won't we.

We're all merely useless eaters, serfs, or slaves to the PTB. What else is news!

Btw, I'm not religious. Don't need any, it's not for me. A reasoned decision I made eons ago. And some of my reasons included the fact that most religious people I knew were ignorant, puerile, intolerant, and worse.

Basically I have no problems with God. It's his/her fan(atic) club that creeps me out!

Blessings to you and yours Kate. Keep the faith (whatever it is that sustains you), amj

Instead of saying CONSCIOUSLY, I should have said

REFLEXIVELY, thoughtlessly choosing sides.

That's what I meant to write. amj

Good points amj.

"Basically I have no problems with God." Reminds me of the phrase "God save me from your followers" or something like that. ;)

Didn't that same Danish Newspaper, that posted the Mohammad cartoons, also previously refuse to print some Jesus cartoons for fear of offending their readers?

Of course they refused Jesus cartoons, adds more fuel to the fire. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this scenario wasn't set up months ago.

After reading a few "left" pieces defending or excusing the Muslim reaction (colonialism, Islam under attack, etc.) I wondered if the same soothers and excusers excused the LA riots with similar psychobabble of past and present oppression. I don't recall the "left" rushing to defend the LA rioters' behavior.

The ruling elite can seemingly always count on the self-destructive response of the masses. Some of their henchmen are usually in there working it.

The Muslim boycott to Danish products is a good idea, although some will argue punishing the country for the actions of the newspaper is wrong. But the wallet is where the real pain resides.

As it turns out, the Muslims also hold Abraham, Moses and Jesus along with other Judeo-Christian Prophets in high esteem also. Publishing cartoons of them will also get you thrown in prison in Muslim countries.

You're absolutely right. I'd forgotten the religion also holds those prophets in high esteem. Thanks.
