AUSTIN, Texas Feb 28, 2007 (AP)— Lawmakers outraged by allegations of sexual abuse of juvenile inmates and a coverup within the Texas Youth Commission promised to hold officials accountable and hinted they might try to take over the troubled agency.

"We're going to get to the bottom of this," said Sen. John Whitmire, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee. "There are no untouchables. We will not rest until this agency is shaken up from top to bottom."

The Texas Youth Commission houses offenders ages 10 to 21 who are considered the most dangerous, incorrigible or chronic. The West Texas State School at the heart of the controversy houses 250 male inmates.

An internal investigation found that many prison staff members had complained about the abuse to their supervisors and to officials in Austin, but for more than a year, no one in charge did anything to stop it.

A Texas Rangers investigation in 2005 found that the prison's assistant superintendent and the school's principal had repeated sexual contact with inmates. Neither of the investigations have resulted in criminal charges, though Whitmire said a special prosecutor is on the case. The officials allegedly involved resigned in 2005.

Before the hearing, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, a Republican, called the allegations "awful."

"We can't have criminals and predators manning our prisons," Dewhurst said.

The Senate panel is considering legislation that would create an independent investigator and increase youth corrections staff and training. It also would prevent the agency from housing inmates as young as 11 with inmates in their late teens and early 20s."

---These people have to be trained not to have sexual contact with children?

Rant of the Cancan Dresses

RawStory gives reader this partial article on a poverty study:

"Based on the latest available US census data from 2005, the McClatchy Newspapers analysis found that almost 16 million Americans live in "deep or severe poverty" defined as a family of four with two children earning less than 9,903 dollars -- one half the federal poverty line figure.

Worker productivity has increased dramatically since the brief recession of 2001, but wages and job growth have lagged behind. At the same time, the share of national income going to corporate profits has dwarfed the amount going to wages and salaries," the study found.

That helps explain why the median household income for working-age families, adjusted for inflation, has fallen for five straight years.

These and other factors have helped push 43 percent of the nation's 37 million poor people into deep poverty -- the highest rate since at least 1975. The share of poor Americans in deep poverty has climbed slowly but steadily over the last three decades, the report said."

What RawStory doesn't give is a link to McClatchy Newspaper of the entire article. The article also states:

"About one in three severely poor people are under age 17, and nearly two out of three are female. Female-headed families with children account for a large share of the severely poor."

---And according to their census data, nearly two out of three people in severe poverty are white at 10.3 million, severely poor blacks 4.3 million, and extremely poor Hispanics 3.7 million.

Of course there shouldn't be poverty in America. There are a lot of "shouldn't be's" in the world, in life. But the above type of article is nothing more than fodder for "liberals" who will juggle the same numbers differently after they take office in 2008.

As a child of older parents and rural poverty I remember the 1950s when hoboes were a regular thing at our backdoor. Mom would always give a meal, often when we had little ourselves for dinner. If crops were good she gave jars of canned peaches or tomatoes and loaves of bread. We lived in a 4 room shotgun shack with no running water. The outhouse was out back. Heat was a coal stove, summer cooling was skinny dipping in the pond. An uncle who had moved to Michigan and made good gave us our first 12 inch B&W television.

I have always hated those rags to riches stories where the person says "… we were poor but never knew we were poor." Such bull. If you didn't know you were poor you weren't poor enough.

I knew we were poor because at the rural grocery store and in town I saw the little blonde white girls in their poofy pretty cancan dresses, the rage in the '50s, and I wanted one so bad my heart ached. I saw their Barbie dolls and accessories and went home to draw paper dolls on brown paper bags.

I knew we were poor when some winters there was no coal and the water bucket in the kitchen froze overnight. I knew we were poor because sometimes I did homework by kerosene lamp to save on electric. I knew we were poor materially but I did know mom and dad were committed to me. Dad would walk 20 miles in the night rain to find medicine when I had pneumonia and still rise at sunset to work until sundown for $5 a day.

They would eat less themselves and buy books from a traveling book salesman. I enjoyed books but why couldn't I have a cancan dress. When I was 12 they took a loan to buy my first Smith-Corona typewriter, I felt rich, and I have ranted ever since. I lost my parents in my teens and years later I figured they must have known that knowledge was my only way out or up.

Census shows that in 1955 there were 21 million Americans living in poverty; my family would have been in that 21 million (and me without a cancan dress). The population at the time was 164 million; that's a rate of about 12.7 percent living in poverty. Today with a population of 301 million and 37 million in poverty that's approximately 12.5 percent.

Poverty has not changed much, other than some of the middle class cannot live as well as they did previously, or at least not unless they sweat more to do so. Going from middle class to "extreme poverty" is rare, although going from homeowner to renter, from 2 cars and a boat to 1 car, etc. may feel like poverty.

Most of today's poverty is single female head of households, and virtually all of the growth of single-parent families in recent decades has been driven by an increase in births outside marriage. Connect the dots. Most of these women are single by choice, not widowed or abandoned.

Granted, corporate hogdom is everywhere, but even I cannot hold corporations and CEOs responsible for female-headed households of unwed mothers having babies with whatever sperm comes along. For 3 decades it's been socially acceptable to procreate … just because … because … because we can … and "social programs" will pay for it.

I have watched Black men dumb down enough to risk spending years in the pen for selling rock and weed to buy rims on a ride, playing big man on the corner. Callous to the point that a trail of abandoned children seldom crosses his consciousness, or he feels big because he gives a few court ordered dollars to the mother of the children he seldom sees and doesn't parent, and eventually blames his life on "the man." Not smart enough to see he's admitting he couldn't outsmart "the man."

The opposition laments and points to every "study" on poverty as proof that the ruling party is bad. Both parties apparently unaware many of these poster children of poverty are tomorrow's inmates because both parties are also "tough on crime." And few have the courage to say social programs are structured to foster laziness, ignorance, dependence.

We have created a culture where there is little or no community of helping one another, more often it's to get over on one another; a culture with no respect for living honestly but for living larger - by any means necessary. Encouraged to piss away today and government will take care of tomorrow. If you haven't figured out that a bloated corrupt government will do nothing in your best interest then you may never figure it out.

In America not all poverty is self-fostered with government collusion, there are exceptions, the era/time, circumstances, and misfortune - but there are not 37 million exceptions. The public is given a success story on occasion with a former single welfare mom who made good using social programs, becomes educated, well-employed, movin' on up. More funding please, the public and federal fat cat administrators beg, the welfare system works!

While I generally practice a live and let live philosophy, I hold liberal America partly responsible for making irresponsibility a "lifestyle" worthy of choosing. For decades I have watched the 'hood go from working family parenting households to Shamika with 5 babies from 5 daddies, who will sell half her foodstamp allowance to Linda Sue who needs to feed her 4 pasty pale children, although Linda Sue is married her old man is either a meth head or too lazy to work, but he's in the home.

Shamika will spend most of her paycheck from a dead-end job, if she has one, on getting her hair and nails done for clubbing Saturday night, looking for the next Mr. Slick. Linda Sue's hubby has a disability check that barely covers the payment on his pickup truck and they're all making lifetime payments to Rent One on a big screen TV and/or furniture their undisciplined and unbearable children will trash in a year.

Technically by income they may qualify for the poverty list – but they, like millions of Americans, are destitute only in character.

There's a big difference between giving a hand up and a handout. One is done from loving - the other for control. I know because the only thing my parents had to give was a hand up.

Keepin' Ya Safe

In 1994, United Defense Industries (UDI) signed a contract with the Defense Department potentially worth $1.1 billion to develop a new howitzer weapon system called the Crusader. Sort of a big tank toting a Howitzer to deliver 100 pound projectiles with a new and improve tube length and cooling system, more automated and quicker.

In 1997 UDI was purchased by the Carlyle Group, a Washington, D.C., investment partnership formed in 1987 by David Rubenstein, a former aide to President Jimmy Carter; Daniel A. D'Aniello, and William Conway, billionaires all. Carlyle's portfolio includes other industries but purchasing defense companies added much to the company's success. Apparently, after the end of the Cold War there were lots of investor neglected defense companies. How sad. Who wants to invest in weapon systems unless we have a big war on.

A February 2001 UDI press release assures us the "Crusader is currently in the Program Definition/Risk Reduction (PD/RR) phase of development that will culminate in a Milestone II decision in April 2003. However, Crusader achieved a number of development goals that go beyond those required of the next milestone. This demonstration shows that Crusader is on the path to begin delivering operationally suitable prototypes beginning in FY 2004."

Doublespeak to say that after 7 years the company still hasn't delivered an operational prototype, in the definition phase of development, send more money please.

In the summer of 2001 UDI, after a leveraged recapitalization, goes public, the initial public offering was completed in December 2001.

May 9, 2002 Donald H. Rumsfeld announced he intends to cancel the Army's $11 billion Crusader artillery program so that money could be invested in more futuristic weapons technologies, setting himself on a collision course with Congress over the mobile, rapid-fire howitzer." (Is that why Rummy was dumped, over a tank?)

On May 29, 2002 the President canceled the Army’s Crusader Artillery program. "In development since 1994, the Crusader weighed 60 tons and would be too heavy for the Army to transport in a timely manner. Moreover, the Crusader was designed to fight a heavy land battle, more likely during the Cold War than the 21st Century. Rather than continuing a system with questionable future relevance, the President reallocated the Crusader’s funds to more advanced technologies including precision guided, artillery weapons. The President’s Crusader decision, endorsed by the Congress, represents a real step towards transformation."

Only futuristic need apply.

Some defense analysts felt that even though the Crusader did not fit into plans for transforming the military, it placated Pentagon officials who were resistant to change. Even if the project is canceled (which it was) UDI has already received $2 billion from the program and would receive more to shut it down.

In April 2004 Carlyle completely exited its UDI investment. In June 2005 BAE Systems, completed its acquisition of United Defense Industries Inc (United Defense). The Company announced it had entered into a definitive merger agreement to acquire United Defense on 7 March 2005 in a transaction valued at $4.192 billion.

Still tops in defense Carlyle advises real opportunity is not in the private sector, but in the U.S. government market, where federal agencies are spending hundreds of billions on new technologies for homeland defense and high-tech warfare.

So here we are, more cliques than you can shake a stick at. Ten years and a couple billion spent, and the Crusader was nothing more than a few test rounds on a Yuma desert, bling for generals who were Cold War relics. It's that military-industrial complex. The gravy train protection racket, sending congress (errand boys) to fetch the funds. Hundreds of billions in real opportunity.

The Thinking Bloggers

Blogger Postman Patel , with his undeniable good taste and usual charm, has given me a "Thinking Blogger Award."

The Thinking Blogger Award rules are:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme.
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.

So, it gives me great pleasure to accept this award and I want to thank the academy … oops wrong note … ahem … I happily accept this award , and thank you members of the meme, thank you, and I want to thank my late mom and dad and my children and my loving husband without whom I could never .…

(This kinda reminds me of those e-mail chain letters, but hey every toot of my horn makes me feel good.)

I realized the blogs I read are on a much shorter list than my list of State controlled news, books, boring government reports, etc. The blog links, on this page to the left, I check regularly, and consider them all thinking bloggers. Other blogs - not linked on KAB but in my favorites toolbar - I read because they provide insight into opinions that I don't usually hold with; I do less thinking if comfortably surrounded by those who think the way I think; if agitation can produce a pearl - I'm working on a gem.

With that said, KAB proudly presents Thinking Blogger Awards to:

Black Agenda Blog. Great writing on issues for Black America.
The Blue Voice. A view to the mind of liberal John & Jane Mostly Whitefolk.
Milfuegos. His 'complete profile' is more secretive than mine.
Umkahlil. Excellent blog on Palestine.
Postman Patel. Uses the F-word as often as I would like to.

Cliques

Vanity Fair article. SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation. The McLean, Virginia, offices of Science Applications International Corporation, a "stealth company" with 9,000 government contracts, many of which involve secret intelligence work.

"SAIC maintains its headquarters in San Diego, but its center of gravity is in Washington, D.C. With a workforce of 44,000, it is the size of a full-fledged government agency—in fact, it is larger than the departments of Labor, Energy, and Housing and Urban Development combined. Its anonymous glass-and-steel Washington office—a gleaming corporate box like any other—lies in northern Virginia, not far from the headquarters of the C.I.A., whose byways it knows quite well. (More than half of SAIC's employees have security clearances.)"

By the way, that 44,000 workforce is worldwide, not solely USA.

Business Week wrote a similar article on SAIC 2 years ago. One would almost think the elite are rubbing the noses of the masses in the mud of big business welfare and little sheople will not and cannot do anything about it, nanner nanner whatcha gonna do about it, gloat gloat. Keep funding dictatorship cliques.

Kenneth C. Dahlberg, current CEO of SAIC is a lifelong corporate war machine hog, having worked at General Dynamics and Raytheon. Ken began his career at Hughes Aircraft, that's the late Howard Hughes, Texas oilman, movie producer, aviator and lunatic … and past recipient of wealthyfare war contracts for unusable creations such as the infamous Spruce Goose. A government contract PIF to Howie who never quite made a viable version of the wooden Spruce built of birch plywood. Perhaps an airbus ahead of its time.

Dahlberg was also a member of CREEP, the committee to reelect the "I am not a crook president", Nixon. He is also a former WWII fighter ace and medal winner. Many of SAIC employees are ex-military, intel, etc. In fact, I believe my MI son looked into employment at SAIC.

Not mentioned in Vanity, but SAIC is the largest "employee owned" company in the country, note the mod squad fotos of employees (one white, one black, one female).

Not likely many, if any, of these affluent employees are protesting current government policy. Of course SAIC employees have security clearance – industrial espionage you know. And nothing makes a little person feel so elite as passing a security clearance check – even if you never handle anything more important than a mop after offices hours or write nerdy wordy stalling-for-time reports on why the project is overdue and over budget.

SAIC and ilk are creating cutting edge science and technology for government oppression (aka national security) and that is serious business. Wouldn't want others stealing technology before we can sell it to them.

SAIC's mission …. "services and products to all branches of the U.S. military, agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the intelligence community, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other U.S. Government civil agencies, as well as to customers in selected commercial markets. Our customers seek our domain expertise to solve complex technical challenges requiring innovative solutions for mission-critical functions in such areas as national security, intelligence and homeland defense. Increasing demand for our services and products is driven by priorities including the ongoing global war on terror and the transformation of the U.S. military."

Imagine the number of "spruce gooses" in SAICs bag of government contracts.

One of SAIC's biggest contracts is for a "Pentagon program called Future Combat Systems, which is described as "a complex plan to turn the U.S. Army into a lighter, more lethal, more mobile force" and also as "the most difficult integration program ever undertaken by the U.S. Department of Defense." The contract runs into the billions of dollars. The man who helped craft this program at the Pentagon was Lieutenant General Daniel R. Zanini. Zanini recently retired from the army, and he now has a new job. Can you guess where it might be?"

(Senior Vice President, Daniel R. Zanini is SAIC’s Program Manager for the Future Combat Systems (FCS) program. FCS is a major Army transformation initiative in the System Development and Demonstration Phase and is valued at $21.2B. Prior to his current assignment, Zanini retired from the US Army as a Lieutenant General on 1 January 2003, after more than 37 years of service. Immediately prior to retirement, he commanded the Eighth U.S. Army in Korea with concurrent duties as Chief of Staff, United Nations Command.)

But dear readers, think of the ripple effect SAIC-like corporations have on the economy. Sure, not everyone can make 6, 7, and 8 figure salaries but those who do have homes and offices that need cleaning, they need clerks at the boutique, waiters at the country club, janitors, nannies, mechanics, chauffeurs, gardeners, etc. Where would they make their fortunes if peace came? Huh? Just tell me where. Where?

Well, actually they likely will do well in peacetime too as government will need high tech solutions, need that future "lighter, more lethal, mobile force" - to protect us from the enemies within ... who will be identified on a need to know basis. And whatcha gonna do about it.

Century of Self

Edward L. Bernays, called the Father of Spin and so-called inventor of public relations, manipulated the perceptions of the public by taking advantage of the principles of psychology developed by his uncle, Sigmund Freud.

The Journey of the Self is the acclaimed 2002 BBC documentary by Adam Curtis. This four-part documentary explains the impact of Freud's many theories about the mind that politicians and companies far and wide have mastered over the past century to engineer society's consent and grow mass consumerism throughout the free world.

Rios Montt Born Againer

From Dissident Voice article : "Former Guatemalan dictator General Jose Efrain Rios Montt, who prosecuted a Reagan administration-supported war of genocide against the Mayan population, on January 17, 2007 announced that he plans to run for Congress in September. This would provide him with immunity from prosecution on the charges of genocide and other violations of human rights during the country's 36-year civil war, according to SOA (School of Americas) Watch."

The author of above article also urges readers to do something : "It is crucial that people concerned about justice for the victims of the U.S.-engineered Guatemalan Holocaust exert powerful international pressure to ensure that Rios Montt and other officials either face trial in Guatemala or are extradited to Spain without delay. To send a letter quickly via the web, go to : amnestyusa."

Anyhoo, it reminded me of a blog post from last May '06 that mentioned Montt and AI. "Amnesty usually fails to mention that previous leaders and participants in atrocities, paid for by the US, are languishing in California and Florida, and other less climate friendly states. We could have a small metropolis inhabited with the former bloody hands from Latin America; Useful Assets, USA. More than one US senator or pol is married to the relatives of some US dictators, for example Gerald "Jerry" Weller (R-IL) who married wife Zury Ríos Montt at the estate of former Guatemala dictator daddy Efrain Ríos Montt. Jerry, who sits on a subcommittee in DC for international terrorism is now porking and dining with terrorists. Zury, a member of the Guatemalan congress, is adamant that daddy was not a dictator and never hurt anyone. Watch out little Guates if this lady comes to power."

Looks like daddy may come to power before Zury. I don't think a seat in the Guatemalan congress is all that protects Daddy Montt from prosecution as a war criminal. Montt has a 50 year history with the Pentagon; personal friends with Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, and it doesn't hurt to have son-in-law Jerry Weller in the US congress. Weller has recently unseated himself from the International Relations Committee but remains on the House Ways and Means Committee.

Not that Weller is doing anything unusual. It's a small world afterall and why wouldn't the policy shapers in one country bed and wed policy makers from another country. Doesn't mean they cannot set aside personal interests because … because … they tell us they can set them aside, really.

But, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for justice from America's political elite or AI. At best, justice may wait until Señor Montt is 95 and dies en route to a courtroom.

Ziggy Working the Crowd

Making the rounds - Zbigniew Brzezinski … "tacitly warned a Senate Foreign Relations Committee last week that an attack on Iran could be launched following a staged provocation in Iraq or a false flag terror attack within the U.S."

Yep, ol' Ziggy, co-founder of the Trilateral Commission, Rockefeller cohort, long-time player and prevaricator for American political parties, warns us. Although generally associated with Democrats/progressives Brzezinski seems to enjoy the company of both sides of the aisle; sometimes referred to as the Democrats Henry Kissinger (meaning you get a kiss before bending over).

An advocator of NATO expansion throughout the 1990s, perhaps he belongs to club NATO as oppposed to club UN. Both will club you to death – only varying in their grandiose language of how much, when, where, and who will do most of the clubbing. We're all baby seals to these people.

Zig in this interview openly admits that the covert funding under Carter of the Taliban regime was a smart idea : "The day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter: We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam war. Indeed, for almost 10 years, Moscow had to carry on a war unsupportable by the government, a conflict that brought about the demoralization and finally the breakup of the Soviet empire." Brzezinski refers to the Taliban as "some stirred-up Moslems."

So what shitpot is he stirring now? Because Ziggy does stink. Giving the USSR its Vietnam, never mind how many innocent Afghans will die at Russia's hand, it's a grand chess board, right Ziggy?

Now comes Brzezinski to warn the American public of a "false flag" and/or "staged provocation" regarding Iran – he's working the crowd. In the event there is such a false staging – the crowd and its lemming leader will most assuredly push for international constraint in US governance, since apparently yanks cannot govern themselves unsupervised.

If no such false event, Brzezinski has succeeded in pushing the meme that the US is out of control – we should follow the past has-been empires, you know the Brits, the Soviet Union ... ? Won't some global respected body please stop US before US destroys the world? Make US a former empire, hurry. At the least, he manages to scare democrats, and more than a few republicans, shitless, and reinforce the myth that we the sheeple have a choice, just dump the "neocons" and install the other cheek of the globocorporate ass.

As an expert lifelong manipulator of the sheeple – Brzezinski now says a "staged provocation … false flag" could occur. Begs the question - where was Ziggy with warning of a false flag within the US pre-09/11/01, by some "stirred-up Moslems."

Jon Frum

The US's standing in the world may have plummeted under President George W Bush, but a bizarre cargo cult in the Vanuatu island nation holds America in god-like esteem.

The Jon Frum movement celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding yesterday with a lavish feast in which village men dressed up as US soldiers and marched in front of a giant Stars and Stripes flag on a bamboo pole.

Miniature American flags festooned trees lining the black sand parade ground which forms the focus of Lamakara village, the headquarters of the cult, on the jungle island of Tanna.

Older men dressed as officers marshalled the crowd of several thousand cult devotees, while 50 young men shouldered their bamboo rifles and came to attention in a perfectly orchestrated drill.

The letters USA were daubed across their chests and backs in red paint as they paraded beneath a relentless tropical sun, a drill sergeant barking orders in Bislama, Vanuatu pidgin English.

A tin band and small boys with bamboo flutes played The Star Spangled Banner against a background of roars from nearby Mount Yasur, a live volcano in which the spirit of Jon Frum is said to live.

The shadowy spirit figure they already believed in gradually assumed a name and a nationality – Jon Frum is believed to be a contraction of John From America, a reference perhaps to a soldier who showed particular generosity.

The movement was officially founded on Feb 15, 1957, to celebrate the release of cult leaders who had been imprisoned by the ruling Anglo-French authorities. For the last 50 years cultists have clung to the belief that by dressing up as GIs and venerating US symbols they can somehow tempt back the wartime cargo.

In a thatched hut in the centre of the village a cult shrine says: Jon Promise America – One Day He'll Be Returning.

---- Worldwide, there are several million Jon Frum Promise cultists, with similar symbols, beliefs, and dress-up rituals, usually referred to as Joe Blow or patriot, often found in America's Red(neck) States.

Ex-Critter Caught Beachcoming

CBS/AP) A former U.S. congressman from Pennsylvania was accused Wednesday of exposing himself to at least two women at a Florida beach resort. Joseph M. McDade, 75, was issued a summons on a charge of "exposure of sexual organs," a misdemeanor that carries up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

McDade was seen "masturbating on the beach and by the pool area of the hotel" by three witnesses on one day last month, according to police reports.

The Naples (Fla.) News reports that three police complainants detailed similar scenarios. The first witness said she saw McDade masturbating 10 to 15 feet away from her. The second said McDade followed his wife from the beach while masturbating, while the third said McDade watched her leave her lawn chair at the beach, and proceeded to follow her while masturbating, according to reports.

The third witness "thought Mr. McDade was a mental patient," according to reports.

McDade, a Republican, served in the House of Representatives from 1963 to 1999. He did not seek re-election in 1998.

--- McDade was acquitted of racketeering charges in 1996, accused of accepting "gifts" from defense contractors in return for lucrative contracts, etc.

McDade's daddy in 1941 played a role in creating the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport in Pennsylvania. Joseph came along later to to get money from federal budgets and grants to improve it. Joe recalled his father's dedication to the airport : "My father was a very civic-minded fellow," he said. "He was very much in favor of coming into the new world."

And a generation after his father helped create the Airport, Mr. McDade had the chance to help renew it. "The question was, what could we do to bring the Airport into the new world?" said Junior McDade.

Typical, I tell ya, typical - McBater goes from a civic minded dynasty of bringing in the new world (or New World) to an old man coming at girls on the beach.

Pots & Kettles

Chinese, Indian and Russian foreign ministers met in New Delhi Wednesday, reaffirming their trilateral cooperation was not directed against any other country but intended to promote international harmony and understanding.

"China, India and Russia have developed friendly and frequent cooperation on international and regional issues," said Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing at a press conference after the meeting, "The trilateral cooperation will include cooperation in the regional organizations like Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and in the United Nations."

The ministers will advise their business bodies to organize a trilateral business forum within this year.

The three sides stressed the importance of reforms in the United Nations including the UN Security Council while China and Russia reiterated that they understand and support India to play a greater role in the United Nations.

They stressed that terrorism should be combated in a consistent, sustained and comprehensive manner without any double standards.

The three countries agreed to coordinate action against any factor that feed international terrorism including its financing, illegal drug trafficking and trans-national organized crime, the Joint Communique said.

The next trilateral meeting among China, India and Russia will be held in China, according to the document.

Chomsky Signs Petition

Latest white people blogging hope is Noam Chomsky signing the 9/11 widows petition:

To: U.S Congress; Press/Media

We, the undersigned, demand the immediate declassification and release of all transcripts and documents relating to the July 10, 2001 meeting that took place between former CIA Director George Tenet and then National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice. It has been alleged that this urgent and out-of-the-ordinary meeting was called to discuss the increasingly dire warnings of an imminent al Qaeda attack within the U.S.

Given that much of the July 10, 2001 meeting has already been made public in Bob Woodward's newly released book, State of Denial, it is unacceptable to continue to keep these documents and transcripts hidden from the American public's view.

In addition, we again call for the declassification and release of both the redacted 28 pages of the Joint Inquiry Into The Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001 (JICI) and the CIA Inspector General report, CIA Accountability With Respect To The 9/11 Attacks.

The disastrous nature of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks warrant the release of all of this information so that the American public may learn what its government did or did not do to protect them. Had this nation been properly warned of the looming and imminent terrorist threat, life saving choices could have been made that day.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

--- This is not an indication that Noam believes in conspiracies, he does not, nor do the widows. According to Muckraker the widows "six years later, the Jersey girls are still fighting the exact same fight they were fighting on September 12, 2001, and for the same reason: to keep you, and me, and everyone we know, safe from terrorism."

Per their own words : "Addressing all these unanswered questions out there is about more than simply trying to quell conspiracy theories," says Monica Gabrielle, whose husband Richard died in WTC II. "It’s about making sure Americans are safe by revealing the unfettered truth about the failures. Because you can’t make recommendations on distortions, omissions, and half-truths, which is basically what the 9/11 Commission did."

These ladies ask the "tough" questions, like where was NORAD, what made WTC 7 fall, why isn't bin Laden on the FBI's most wanted.

But don't grab the pitchforks yet as the widows are not looking for who/what pulled an inside job, and it's definitely about more than simply quelling conspiracy theories.

They look for "the unfettered truth about failures" in order for someone, presumably government experts, to "make recommendations." More security, you know, make us safe.

As for those 28 redacted JICI pages … have you read the 8980 page version published on CD?

Following this story should be more exciting than watching a cactus grow, but not as thrilling as the Iran-Contra hearings. You go white people. Petition the lyin' muthafukas and make them "keep you, and me, and everyone we know" ... safe from terra'ism.

On a Lighter Note to Sweetie

Labels

UNITED NATIONS Feb 14, 2007 (AP)— The Security Council will extend the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Haiti for eight months following an agreement between the United States and China on the length of the new mandate, council diplomats said Wednesday.

Peacekeepers arrived in Haiti in July 2004 to quell unrest sparked by an uprising that ousted former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

In a report in December, former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan recommended the mission be extended for one year after its mandate expires Feb. 15, a view backed by the Friends of Haiti whose members include the United States, Canada, Brazil, France and Britain.

--- In 2000 Annan recommended the UN leave Haiti. The Friends of Haiti (Elite) must have clout.

The U.N. peacekeeping force which includes about 125 Chinese police officers has recently stepped up offensives to root out armed gangs that hold sway in slums in Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince. The gangs are blamed for a wave of kidnappings and other violence prompted by the uprising that toppled Aristide.

---- Gangs. Not freedom fighters, not rebels, or dissidents, insurgents, contras, militants, opposition, not even terrorists with a cause – but gangs. Note too the MSM trend to label fighters in Africa's hot-spots as "gangs." I.e., those Nigerian "gangs" attacking Royal Dutch Shell and Exxon subsidiaries.

Sort of ties into the MSM mindset that white folks take things, black people loot.

More Than Skin Deep

Military Moral Issues

WASHINGTON — Defense officials believe they have rules in place to make sure gang members aren’t signing up or being recruited to join the military. The Army — and the Defense Department as a whole — have come under fire in recent years for loosening recruiting standards in the face of enlistment shortages.

In fiscal 2006, 13,600 Army recruits were issued waivers for various moral and medical issues, up 18 percent from the year before. Eighty-one percent of the recruits had high school diplomas, down 6 percent from the previous year.

Service officials have maintained that the overall quality of the force has not been compromised by the softened recruiting stance.

The Army will give waivers for some “moral issues,” such as a DUI or possession of small amounts of marijuana, but will not consider any recruits with convictions of trafficking drugs or any sexually violent crimes, or anyone with more than one felony conviction, officials said.

Barfield said gangsters he has spoken with view the Army as a way to boost their skill set. "They’re going in as mechanics, truck drivers, medics," he said. "Think about it — if you [steal] a truck full of electronics, you have to know how to drive it. Medics treat gun wounds, and that is what a gangster is likely to suffer from. They know what to do, they know what game to play. Gangbanging is their job. It’s their career."

---- And in other news, American voters continue to cheer and wave at politicians who toke without inhaling, have daddy fix-its DUI, adulterers, profiteers of death and maiming, looters who pardon one another, hire one another, wife beaters and man-eaters, half of 'em gay, the other half pedophiles. But, they know the game. Banging sheeple is their job, it's their career.

Making the Rounds

Samples of blog buzz:

Doesn't look like Farsi to me ….

Pentagon caught red-handed trying to frame Iran ….

US fabricating evidence …

Iran uses the Gregorian calendar …

Etc. etc. etc. shriek, eek, lookie lookie monkey boy doing it again.

Hundreds of European, North American, South African, Australian, Latin American manufacturers produce ammo, for their own and others use, including for the US. And - you're not going to believe this but – said hardware, more often than you wanna know, is hijacked, lost, stolen, disappeared!

The now famous photo of the 81mm HE 3-2006 mortar could have been made anywhere and sold by anyone to who knows who in what country.

The 81mm is traceable. Where it was made, who made it, destination, and where it ended, lost in transit or inventory. What manufacturer initials/logo are on the 81mm? What lot and part number? What what.

That the shell markings appear to be in English proves nothing, or the date, or the HE. It does not prove Iran is arming Iraq insurgency, nor does it prove BushCo intel is trying to frame Iran.

In a world armed to the teeth, anyone anywhere at any time – with enough cash in hand - can get conventional weapons of choice. (And apparently nuclear technology too.)

I've seen similar mortar rounds, unused, wash up on beaches in foreign countries. I saw American backed Contras supplied with Russian made AKs but the USSR was not arming the Contras, well not directly anyway, but Colonel Oily North's crew bought AKs from somewhere.

So who is Little Miss 81mm's daddy. It could be Iran aiding militia in Iraq. It could be a US friend or ally.

It could be a dud spray painted to make BushCo look even more evil and stupid (after his media-backed debut as benevolent good ol' boy), in preparation of the incoming Queen Clinton who will bring sanity and peace to the fevered brow of American foreign policy. Saving us from these mad mad neocons. Whew! and just in time. Snatching us back from the brink of nooklur holocaust.

You know the old saying, alls fair in love and war, and toying with Joe Blow.

Constructing the Future World Order

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental international organization founded in Shanghai on 15 June 2001 by six countries: China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Originally formed in 1996 and known as "the Shanghai Five", the group became the SCO in 2001 and added Uzbekistan as a member.

There are some who believe the SCO poses a real threat to US world status. From those on the left, Noam Chomsky : "Worse yet, though the US can intimidate Europe, it cannot intimidate China, which blithely goes its own way, even in Saudi Arabia, the jewel in the crown -- the primary reason why China is considered a leading threat. An independent energy bloc in the Gulf area is likely to link up with the China-based Asian Energy Security Grid and Shanghai Cooperation Council, with Russia (which has its own huge resources) as an integral part, along with the Central Asian states (already members), possibly India. Iran is already associated with them, and a Shi'ite dominated bloc in the Arab states might well go along. All of that would be a nightmare for US planners, and its Western allies."

And those on the right, Jinsa : "Perhaps emboldened by America’s troubled policy in Iraq, Kazakh Foreign Minister Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev declared last week, "The SCO has all prerequisites to become a structure of the future world order." His deputy read Tokayev’s comments at the opening of the SCO’s fifth anniversary conference, December 1 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. "What Russia and China are doing, in places such as Sudan and Iran, where they are making common cause to block the liberal West’s efforts to impose sanctions, and in Belarus, Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe and Burma, where they have embraced various dictators in defiance of the global liberal consensus," Robert Kagan, a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, observed in the Washington Times, April 30, 2006. Kagan further questioned whether the United States should expect anything else from "in informal league of dictators … sustained and protected by Moscow and Beijing as best as they can."

Questions. How/why is it that Shiites, who are only 15 percent of the 1 billion+ Muslims worldwide, have been maneuvered to such a powerful world position?

Who is best served by a Shiite dominated bloc? Shanghai, Russia, etc. So why did US "planners" give Shiites power in Iraq?

Why would the US install a Shiite-led government in Iraq, if it intends to wage war on Shiite brothers in Iran? Why are Iraqi Shiites biting the hand that put them in power?

Who/what is behind the curtain of the future world order?

Mo' Re$earch

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - A mother's drug use may have far-reaching consequences, eventually affecting the self-esteem of her grandchildren, new research suggests.

The findings are based on interviews with 149 New York City children ages 7 to 12, their mothers and grandmothers. The researchers found that when grandmothers had a history of drug abuse, their daughters tended to have more conflicts with and negative feelings toward their own children.

Dr. Judith S. Brook of New York University School of Medicine led the research.

The findings suggest that poor parenting skills are being passed down through the generations of drug-affected families, according to Brook's team.

---- You needn't spend money to suggest that drugs effect families, or that parenting skills are passed from generation to generation. Isn't that pretty much common knowledge? Has there been a massive influx of mental retardation in American research circles? do educated people find this drivel useful? Is there a sociologist somewhere after reading Dr. Brook, exclaiming, aha! drug abuse does fluck up the family!

This is what NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse) considers appropriate research in the war on drug abuse. It's welfare for the affluent, i.e. Ms. Brook has spent a lifetime on the dole as a grantee/mentor/researcher in government funded $tudies, ($700,000+ for the above "study").

This is the above report as published in Pediatrics/Feb 2007. Scroll down for the doctors' FIGURE 1 of the "hypothesized pathways of the 3-generation SEM." Slightly less complicated than my granddaughter's last minute 8th grade science fair project, (the effects of food dye on white carnations) - total cost $16.49.

Vultures

This 1993 photograph of a starving Sudanese child being stalked by a vulture won Kevin Carter the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for feature photography. On July 27, 1994 Carter took his own life by taping one end of a hose to his pickup truck’s exhaust pipe and running the other end to the passenger-side window.

The Nato Revamping Club

Feb 10, 2007 — MUNICH, Germany (Reuters) - NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer opened a potentially fierce tug-of-war over the future of the alliance on Saturday, urging members to agree by 2009 on a new "strategic concept" for the body.

NATO's strategic concept is its core mission statement and the current 1999 version was drawn up before the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001, which Washington and others insist show the alliance must tackle emerging security threats wherever they arise before they lead to attacks.

(NATO unaware 9/11 an inside job.)

It also predates the alliance entering Afghanistan — its first peacekeeping mission outside the Euro-Atlantic area it was set up to protect.

(They need a new mission statement to go where no NATO has ever gone before.)

De Hoop Scheffer told a security conference in Munich the 26-member alliance should work better with the United Nations, the European Union and non-NATO partners, and offer itself more widely as a military trainer in the Middle East and beyond.

"We have learned fundamental lessons from our operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo," he said of NATO's two largest current operations.

"Those are the lessons of 21st security. We need to enshrine them in our guiding documents so that they are implemented in practice," he told the conference, adding that he wanted NATO leaders to agree on a new strategic concept by a 2009 summit.

Many of his proposals already enjoy strong U.S. backing, with Washington for example long urging NATO to offer itself as a security trainer across the world, and invite "global partners" such as Australia and Japan to help out in missions.

De Hoop Scheffer also said the new strategic concept should confirm an informal target for all NATO nations to spend 2 percent of their national income on defense — something that all but half a dozen of them currently fail to do.

---- In the last couple of years club NATO has taken on at least 7 new member countries with more candidates applying for membership.

Alliances for 21st security training. That's 21st century I presume. Future power struggles – will Club UN or Club NATO get lucrative peacekeeping mission. Stay tuned to see which Club wins the right to call airstrikes on emerging threat in country X, Y, or Z.

Vlad "Soulful Eyes" Putin Accuses U.S. of Bid to Impose Will on World

MUNICH, Germany (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin, in one of his harshest attacks on the United States in seven years in power, accused Washington on Saturday of attempting to force its will on the world.

In a speech in Germany, that one U.S. senator said smacked of Cold War rhetoric, Putin accused the United States of making the world a more dangerous place by pursuing policies aimed at making it "one single master."

Attacking the concept of a "unipolar" world in which the United States was the sole superpower, he said: "What is a unipolar world? No matter how we beautify this term it means one single center of power, one single center of force and one single master."

Putin said the United States had repeatedly overstepped its national borders in questions of international security, a policy that he said had made the world less, not more, safe.

"Unilateral actions have not resolved conflicts but have made them worse," Putin said, adding that force should only be used when backed by the United Nations Security Council.

Though Russia is frequently at odds with the United States on a wide range of policy issues, Putin has generally avoided direct criticism of Washington and makes no secret of his personal friendship with President Bush. He restated this on Saturday, saying Bush was a "decent man" and a friend. "He is criticized for everything he does but he is a decent man. He says Russia and the U.S. will never be enemies and I agree with him," he said in answer to a question.

Putin also called on European states, many of which have disagreed with U.S. policy in Iraq and elsewhere, to be more active in international affairs.

---- Pootie sounds like a D.C. Democrat or Mz Hillry - bashing Bush yet reiterating George is a decent man, he just shoulda had the UN Security Council (Force) behind him. Yep, mmm hmm y'all - Bush is the single power master monger who made the world a dangerous place - but he be a good friend of mine.

Ehren Watada

I've not written about Lt. Watada, the young officer who refused deployment to Iraq, as I was not quite sure where this was coming from. Instinct says it smells more questionable than John Kerry's medal toss.

The original charges against Watada were one charge of missing movement with his unit and two charges of conduct unbecoming an officer. The conduct charges were dropped a week before trial.

Watada had refused the offer of a desk job in Iraq as a way of avoiding direct combat involvement, but he did offer to fight in Afghanistan. Huh? Killing Afghanistan under the guise of getting Osama bin Forgotten is more legal and moral than the Iraq War? But military brass, in typical wisdom, preferred Watada go public as the first commissioned officer questioning the legality of the Iraq war - when his butt could have been shipped to Kabul?

Watada states "wholesale slaughter and mistreatment of the Iraqi people with only limited accountability is not only a terrible moral injustice but a contradiction to the Army's own Law of Land Warfare." But Afghanistan slaughter is okay?

Lt. Watada enlisted in the summer of 2003, months after "Operation Iraqi Liberation" began. He did not see the illegality of the war at that time. Watada now says he had believed GW when Dubya claimed Iraq had WMD and ties to Al Queda. After finishing basic training and OCS, which isn't easy to get into, and serving in Korea, Watada decided Bush lied, was deceitful.

In June 2006 the awakened Watada stepped forward to announce his refusal to deploy to Iraq with the men he trusted and trained with. Excuse me for not believing it took this intelligent young man this long to "wake up".

It's not as if Watada is a clueless boy of modest family means who struggled for a college education and then enlisted in the fervor of post 9/11. His father, Bob Watada, is a mover and shaker in Hawaii, fighting political and corporate corruption for years. Bob was a former Peace Corp member in Latin America during the '60s, an era when many suspected the CIA of using Peace Corp members. Lt. Ehren grew up in a politically active household. Surely around dad's dinner table there were a few discussions on the deceit of politics and war.

Not to pee on the parade - but it could be this whole officer-takes-a-stand scene is a staged op from the other faction of the ruling elite. In an environment of national news dominated by celebrity lives/death and sex junk – any anti-Iraq war "news" or personality, is questionable. Remember too, it's not that the other "faction" of the ruling elite are good guys when in power, they just prefer the appearance of legal slaughter.

This past week's mistrial in the Watada case has been hailed as a "blow to the Pentagon." It's not the Pentagon getting this blowjob folks. Don't look for any retrial; this will end as it began, nice and neat.

It now seems likely Ehren will resign his commission, receive a general discharge, and find other arenas in which to fight whatever he is fighting (right after the probable book deal) – or he could show up in 30 years as a heavy medal-chested planner in the Pentagon. But more likely a civilian political office is at the top of his to-do list.

Poster Child Soldiers

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Former child soldiers in southern Sudan are failing to settle back into their communities and instead are picking up guns to fight again, a U.N. official said on Thursday. Radhika Coomaraswamy of Sri Lanka, the special envoy for children and armed conflict, visited Sudan late last month.

"We met a lot of young people, orphans and all, and many of them want to get back into the fighting," Coomaraswamy told a news conference. "They want to get back into the armed forces because they are used to carrying a gun, they have social status with a gun and they just can't get back into their communities."

A report on Monday by British-based Save the Children accused Sudanese government forces of recruiting children as young as 8 in the South of the country, while over 8,000 children were still being used in rebel and militia groups across West Africa.

---- Reminds me of a child soldier I met many years ago. The boy, in uniform carrying a rifle and sidearm, stopped me on a street corner to check documents. For a brief second I thought it was a joke, a boy playing with his dad's military things; his head barely reached my shoulder and I'm 5 feet 3 inches barefoot. I produced my documents.

To make a long story short he was 10, with a mother and siblings. He joined for a monthly ration of 12 pounds of rice and beans, cuajada cheese, and pinolillo powder. A guns for butter childhood (few children have "a childhood" in third world countries).

He had been forced into child soldiering by evil men creating evil circumstances. And in his particular situation, circumstances made and funded in the USA.

Probably the same folks raised funds and condemned child soldiering since Stephen of Cloyes (white children are called by God to soldiering, brown children soldiering are a fundraiser's poster child.) Tell me again who's arming the world's armies. Tell me again how the Western world is more civilized today.

I found the boy soldier, years after the war, he was still shorter than me and still in uniform. Not that he was in love with army life or felt it gave him status, but his country is still the 2nd poorest in the hemisphere and employment is either tourism or sweatshop industry - with too many laborers for too few jobs – he has a wife and children to feed. Army pay is better now he says. A guns for butter manhood.

The generous US social welfare system (compared to zero in other areas of the world) is all that prevents millions of Americans from the same raw existence. But I don't think that's a long stretch; the way the government is currently looting, we'll get there.

BushCo Girls From the 'Hood

WASHINGTON (AP)--African Union nations have committed about 4,000 troops for a Somalia peacekeeping force and the first deployments could come as early as next week, a senior U.S. State Department official said Tuesday.

Uganda has offered 1,500 troops, while smaller numbers are expected from Nigeria and Burundi, Assistant Secretary of State Jendayi Frazer told a Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee on African affairs. Offers of training have come from Rwanda and Tanzania, she said. She added that the A.U. force could evolve into a U.N. force within six months.

Frazer said it was imperative that the A.U. forces begin deploying before Ethiopian forces complete their phased withdrawal from Somalia, lest a power vacuum be created in the interim.

The U.S. is providing $100 million in assistance for Somalia during 2007. Frazer said the U.S. military is working with the Ugandans to provide airlift and command and control.

(Jendayi Frazer is a Condi protégé. Critics believe Frazer has problems due to "poor analysis, micromanaging and an unwillingness to acknowledge that covering Africa requires her to delegate authority.")

Alvin the Chinese-African

PRETORIA, South Africa Feb 7, 2007 (AP)— Chinese President Hu Jintao promised Wednesday to increase imports from Africa, responding to fears about the trade deficit that increased as China pumped unprecedented aid, investment and loans into the poor but resource-rich continent.

China is an old friend of the African National Congress party of President Thabo Mbeki, which it supported while South Africa was under a racist white regime. It provided arms and military training for guerrilla fighters, university scholarships and diplomatic support in the international arena.

South African trade unions have complained that Chinese textile imports have cost some 100,000 jobs in the domestic industry. This forced both governments to agree to restrict imports.

Accountant student Alvin Kee, whose parents emigrated to South Africa from Hong Kong, said "I can see China being good for Africa. People think they are coming just for our resources, but they also are coming for development and increasing trade."

Human rights activists in Namibia and opposition politicians in South Africa objected to China's support for corrupt governments accused of human rights abuses, such as those in Zimbabwe and Sudan.

China has been criticized for blocking U.N. resolutions against Sudan, Beijing's third largest supplier of oil, whose troops and government-funded militia are blamed for killings of more than 200,000 people in Darfur.

---- Alvin in Africa, I see ya future dahlin'. Lotsa development loo-ting Africa, ya, I see it in the cards love – you’re a Libra aintcha dahlin' – Ms. Cleokate.

World United

I have pretty much remained steadfast in that the US is not going to attack Iran, but tonight in a call with my oldest son, (36, currently 17 years in) who's opinion I respect a great deal, I asked if he thought we would attack Iran. He said yes.

Maybe he's wrong, hoping he's wrong, but he has more inside information and feelers than I do. Still, I'm reluctant to believe the US pols are that insane, and still lean toward the Iran Attack as a psyop, for audiences at home and abroad.

(On a semi brighter note, #2 son (14 years in) thinks it unlikely we attack Iran, "simple lack of manpower, but we could always bomb the shit outta 'em".)

Will the criminally insane banksters widen the war; another world war to end all wars and make all past wars look like sissy wars? A cover for killing off a large number of useless feeders, stealing resources, realigning friends and foes, consolidating the new world Poppy Bush spoke of years ago. A new world union, it should feel good, a sort of getting laid union, but apt to feel like rape to most of mankind.

I wonder about allies, and how allies do not always remain allies, and foes can sometimes become friends. How will it shake out this time around. Will it be the EU, Israel, and US against Russia, China, and parts of the Middle East? Who will India align with? Does that mean Wal-Mart heirs lose out and we no longer buy everything made in China? Will Habib be out of his tele-help job? Will Hugo's oil go to Bejing or DC?

Will the world experience such horrific slaughter and misery that EUSrael is brought to its knees begging for a rational representative world body to control warriors gone wild? It that the goal? Rather than our own perverted corrupted congress we will, seemingly by fate (not), acquiesce to a world congress? A political body more akin to a board of directors than leaders of divergent nations and cultures. Not singing kumbaya but ka'ching ka'ching.

Or will the goal be accomplished simply by economic forfeiture after a brief but wider war? BushCo gets the blame (or credit in some circles) for bankrupting the USA financially and in the eyes of the world, morally. And Joe Blow, agreeing with the new order of things because Joe never had a thought of his own, just yawns and changes the channel.

Joe says, having been told for years, the country is gonna end up like the Roman empire, fallen, all crooks and perverts, nuttin' he could do about it. (Higher brows dress it up with other terms, overreach, imperialism, Bush doctrine, etc. and seldom mention perverts as they usually are one.)

Surely the US could collapse without more war, but there's less profit in a peaceful fall for the masters of the universe in suits and lapel pins.

The US bully, brought to its knees, would tie in nicely with sacrifice. Sacrifice sovereignty, peacefully, because you failed to control your own government. Sacrifice because the planet is endangered (the planet is melting the planet is melting psyop). Sacrifice because of peak oil (the oil is running out oil is running out psyop). Sacrifice, sacrifice … stand down because you were too stupid to stand up. A sovereign planet, rather than sovereign nations, although countries may keep their names and borders. Sacrifice for the greater good of the new way. Kumba ka'ching yahoo.

When the mushroom cloud settles, nations, and particularly the US, will have proven they are incapable of self-governing, incompetent - so lets send representatives to one bigger and better world body to be even more incompetent and corrupt.

If that's the way the story runs – who will hold more power at governing the world through the UN (or a facsimile)? China? Russia? EUSrael? My money is on the monied white folks. And they will insist for years to come that Africa, the Middle East, and much of Latin America remain unruly and incompetent, in need of heavily armed keepers of the peace, even the "representatives" (puppets) these countries send will agree. Everything will continue to be made in China, Habib will have his job, and while Joe Blow jerks off to the TV his children will join peacekeeping forces.

Actually, it sounds like not much is going to change from what has been for the past 3 decades. Progressive types, unwittingly aiding the reichwing, have a lovey feeling for one world scenarios, but rather than commoners of the world uniting in where we seem to be heading, day to day survival will further divide us; CEO's on the World Board are not going to allow any unionizing.

Maybe Jeb will be the first president of the United Planet of Nations, a lifetime seat of course.

Lost in Space

ORLANDO, Florida (CNN) -- A NASA astronaut charged with pepper-spraying and trying to kidnap a romantic rival was granted bail Tuesday, but her release was delayed after police announced they were filing an attempted murder charge against her, a corrections department spokesman said.

Nowak's attorney, Donald Lykkebak, told the judge that his client has an "exemplary record of commitment" and should be released without bond. "At times like this, judge, one's good works must count for something," Lykkebak said.

Nowak drove almost 1,000 miles from Houston, Texas, to Orlando on Monday to confront Shipman about her alleged relationship with Oefelein, according to a police report.

Nowak wore a diaper during the 14-hour drive so that she wouldn't have to stop for bathroom breaks, the report said. Astronauts wear what NASA calls maximum-absorbency garments to collect their waste during space travel.

As Shipman walked to her car she noticed a woman in a trench coat who appeared to be following her, the police report said. She quickly jumped into her car and heard "running footsteps" behind her, Shipman told police.

Nowak slapped the window of the car as Shipman locked it, the report said. Nowak then tried to open the car door, saying that her ride had not arrived.

Shipman told Nowak she would send for help, but when Nowak said she couldn't hear her and started to cry, Shipman cracked her window, the report said. The 2-inch space in the window was all Nowak needed to send pepper spray into the car, police said.

Police found in Nowak's bag a tan trench coat, a new steel mallet, a folding knife with a 4-inch blade, 3 to 4 feet of rubber tubing, large plastic garbage bags and about $600 in cash, the report said.

Nowak told police she didn't intend to harm Shipman and "that she only wanted to scare Ms. Shipman into talking with her," a police report said. Asked about the BB gun, Nowak told police it "was going to be used to entice Ms. Shipman to talk with her," the report said.

---- What a role model eh? Married, mother of 3, her "good works" count for little when midlife she confuses "romantic" rivalry with criminal horniness. Good job NASA with those psychological tests. If Nowak were Black or poor white, clerking at Quik Pick, and plotted such a scene she would still be in a cell waiting for a court appointed attorney with the neighborhood gossiping "darlin' that silly diaper wearin' bitch has always been crazy 'nuf to do somethin' like that."

International nuclear investigators have confirmed that Iran is beginning to install equipment in the large underground chamber in Natanz, the center where Iranian officials have said they will move to industrial-scale enrichment of uranium, according to foreign diplomats and American officials. Nonetheless, the move signals a continued defiance of the United Nations Security Council, which demanded last summer that Iran suspend all uranium enrichment. "Instead of inviting I.A.E.A. ambassadors, Iran should invite I.A.E.A. inspectors," said Gregory L. Schulte, the American ambassador to the atomic agency. "Iran should give them access to all the documents, nuclear facilities and individuals that it has refused to provide access to in the last three years."

He added that a United Nations resolution requires Iran to suspend its nuclear activities. "Suspending them would build confidence," he said. "Showcasing them does not."

---- It's showtime folks! UNilateral excuse to do some preemption, a "peacekeeping" mission, a nookularpissinator contest, the Tehranayatollah versus Crawfordassahollah. Iran even gives the chamber name and location. Sounds like cooperation to me.

Watts Residents Beware

NEWARK, N.J. — A doctor pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing a hand from a cadaver at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark. The hand was later found by police at the home of a stripper in South Plainfield.

Under a plea agreement, Ahmed Rashed, 26, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of third-degree theft, said Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Judson Hamlin.

Rashed got to know Linda Kay, an exotic dancer, while he was a medical student. He gave the left hand to Kay, 31, during one of his visits the club where she worked, Hott 22 in Union, which features all-nude dancers.

"Our investigation revealed that she expressed an interest to him in acquiring one, and he followed through with her request," Hamlin said.

Rashed's attorney, Kalman Geist, said his client, while a first-year medical student in 2002, removed the hand from a fully dissected cadaver that was scheduled for cremation.

Rashed is currently in his third-year of residency at a hospital of the Watts section of Los Angeles. "A lot of people do things when they're 22 that they wouldn't do 10 years later," Geist said.

--- Yep, youthful indiscretion … who amongst us hasn't wanted to sever the hand from a cadaver to give to a stripper? Rashed – who's your daddy?

Killing Curve UN Be Learning

The head of the UN mission to Haiti has publicly acknowledged international peacekeepers carrying out anti-kidnapping raids into the poorest parts of the city have to do more to avoid civilian casualties. His comments come after a series of raids in the capital, Port-au-Prince, in which witnesses said a number of innocent bystanders were either killed or wounded by peacekeepers.

"We have to improve, we have to be all the time learning from this," said Ambassador Edmond Mulet, head of the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in Haiti (Minustah). "We have learned lessons every time we have [had] these actions."

Mr Mulet made his comments to The Independent following a presentation in Washington in which the envoy outlined some of the multitude of problems facing Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere and where 70 per cent of the population survive on less than $2 a day.

The envoy denied reports that UN peacekeepers had fired from helicopters, hindered Red Cross volunteers or used "heavy munitions" in the raids on December 22, December 28 and January 5. But during his presentation this week at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) he admitted: "There has been collateral damage. Definitely."

It is unclear how many people were killed in the December 22 raid in the densely-populated slum areas of Cite Soleil when several hundred Brazilian UN soldiers launched a pre-dawn raid aimed at capturing known gang leaders.

Mr Mulet said around 12 or 13 people were killed, of which 10 were known gang members; other unconfirmed reports have put the death toll higher. A number of people were also injured.

Yo Pols

In September 2005 Dennis Kucinich introduced legislation to create a Department of Peace and Nonviolence.

So, explain to me why the government funded Institute of Peace, signed into action by Ron Reagan in 1984, is not adequate to the job of peace?

The first formal proposal for the establishment of an official U.S. government peace institution dates to 1792.

And the government still can't seem to do peace.

Hey! I know! Let's create a new governmental body of non-elected officials, and call it the Department of Peace & Policy Mockery at the Public Trough.

Still Moving Reich Along

"Iraq has sent invitations to neighboring countries, including US rivals Iran and Syria, to attend a meeting in Baghdad next month that will mainly discuss the security situation in the country, a Foreign Ministry official said Thursday.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to disclose the information to the media, said the meeting would be the tenth held by Iraq's neighbors but the first to take place in the Iraqi capital. The last such meeting was held in July in Iran.

The invitation includes Iraq's neighbors Jordan, Kuwait, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Syria, he said. Also invited were Egypt, Bahrain, the Arab League, Organization of Islamic Conference and the United Nations, the official said."

--- Similar meetings have been held previously in Turkey, Iran and Egypt. Even Interpol held one. This will be the first in Baghdad. Likely March's meeting will be as pointless as the others, unless the goal has been Euro/US ruling class of can't-tell-the-left-from-the-right-wing wants a United East to front their new cold world order of East vs West; an excuse to drain protection money from the trough; a target for Joe Blow to blame his downsized lifestyle.

I suppose the next war-is-peace profit … er … world threat, is in Africa or Latin America?
