Known in Italy years ago as camicie nere, camisas doradas in Mexico, plĂnio salgado in Brazil, or blueshirts if a member of the Canadian National Socialist Unity Party. Had the ideas above come from a conservative American political party they would have been immediately designated by the "left" as brownshirts.

When such groups are founded by "progressives/liberals" they are imperiously referred to as America or Community or Job or Peace "corps." These orgs accomplish little to nothing overall yet the funding keeps on coming and coming and growing and growing. But whatever color shirt you wear - most likely it will be made in China (which, if you haven't figured it out by now, has become the political/economic role model for the US).

On another note - the news this a.m. is Obama will likely use executive signing orders to overturn certain Bush policies, such as stem cell research, etc. etc. Now, remember, Bush "ruled by executive order" and according to America's "left" it was dictatorship - but when Obama does the same it will henceforth be known as "setting his stamp" on American policy.

And by the way - Neither Congress nor any administration has ever prohibited private funding of embryonic research. Bush vetoed federal funding of research, federal and funding being the keywords here. That's right folks, the so-called supporters of stemcell research want YOU to provide tax funding for the research. The policy question is not really whether it's morally right or wrong - but who pays - private corporations or federal guvmint funding. And we know how efficient the government is with tax funded enterprises.

Have you taken a close look at Obama's Chief of Staff to be, Rahm Emanuel? Well, for all those on the "left" screaming about BushCo's administration being tied to Zionists - you can't get much closer to zion than with Emanuel.

Emanuel is said to have "mailed a rotten fish to a former coworker after the two parted ways." On the night after the 1996 election, "Emanuel was so angry at the president's (Clinton) enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting 'Dead! ... Dead! ... Dead!' and plunging the knife into the table after every name." His "take-no-prisoners attitude" earned him the nickname "Rahm-bo". People who worked with Emanuel at that time "insist the once hard-charging staffer has mellowed out."

Oh yessiree, we be all mellowed out with Barry's rule.

Excuse me hon, what neck size would you like your free red shirt? Oh, wait, you're so progressive you're giving the shirt off your back to the new administration, in hope of change? Bwaaa hahahahah.

I don't get all of this zionist stuff. Why doesn't a Jewish person just run for president? It seems to me that they have the right just like everybody else.

Zionism is an extremist political movement. Not all Jewish people are Zionists, and not all followers of Zionism are necessarily Jewish.

You might want to research the subject.

What on Earth makes you think Obomba has anything to do with the Left? Seriously, what?

Most people who I suppose would be classed as "leftists" feel appalled by him.

I myself voted for Cynthia.

Of course Obama isn't "left." Neither is Cindy McKinney.

Those who consider themselves "leftist" would only be happy with a Fidel or Hugo, etc., dumbly believing that "socialism" is somehow different and the way to go, but it's just another name for the same State. With less chance of lifting your own boat - equal poverty for one and all.

You've lost me, then. You seem to be objecting to everything.

Obama and Cynthia are very different, politically (perhaps if Cynthia were in the WH we'd see a greater similiarity between them, but let's enjoy some "hope") but you disdain both of them.

From your equating Fidel and Hugo, who are somewhat different, politically, and your statist view of socialism, it would seem that you must be a US-style libertarian.

But that can't be true, either, because you're not, from your photo, a 25yo White geekboy flush with money and immaturity.

So I have no idea what, if anything, you do agree with.

I'm not a libertarian. I don't believe there's a political label/party I fit under. But I do think we need less government, smaller government.

I do think term limits is one thing we desperately need. I'm certain there are hundreds of thousands of Americans who could serve a term well and then go home. It doesn't take "experience" to work in DC; it takes people with integrity and common sense - but one doesn't get to DC with those qualities.

As long as lying finger-in-the-wind self-serving career pols are all there is to choose from then I will disdain them all.

Fair enough. But what other changes would you make, if you had the power? What would a proper society look like, as far as you're concerned?

I'm pretty sure I understand the term limits part (though of course not the details of how big the limits would be), but what does "smaller government" mean to you (I can think of several possibilities)?

And what about the rest of it?

A "proper society"? :)

Corporations would cover health care as they did years ago - even for PT workers. Physicians and hospitals would stop sleeping with BigPharma.

Government contracts would be given only to companies who manufactured in the USA. Sorry Europe, China, etc. Say farewell to cheap labor.

There would be more white collar criminals serving hard time in places such as Angola, Marion, etc.

Society would care for the indigent sick and our elderly - but not slackards, cheats, deadbeats, and multiple out-of-wedlock parenting, worker's con, all of which perpetuate poverty and dumbing down and the culture of "disability." Nor would I bailout banks, etc.

Schools would educate, not warehouse those who have no interest in education. And the control would be at the local level, not what overblown crony bureaucratic DC departments decide.

I would do away with or downsize a lot of departments, HUD, NEA, FDA - they're currently corrupt and bloated.

I would cap personal wealth. I think $30,000,000 is enough for anyone, and I'm being very generous. Large conglomerates would give workers equitable stock shares, from the janitor to the CEO. Work weeks would be shortened for most workers but not the paychecks - minimum wage would be at least $12/hr (excluding small mom and pop businesses).

Term limits would be 5 years for national offices. No lifelong benefits and retirement payments, currently any congressperson who spends 5 years in office gets a lifetime of benefits - that would be gone. I would ban guys like Dennis Blair from holding office simply b/c of his ties to the industrial/military complex. Folks like this are not making decisions on what's good for the people but what's good for the upper ruling class - which is nearly always at odds with the common man.

I would encourage the idea that most Americans are capable of serving a term in government, whether local, state, or federal.

I would have more legislation voted on directly by the public and less need for those guys in the halls of power. But at the same time I would have some sort of qualifying test for the right to vote, at least a basic knowledge and/or understanding of government policies. Ignorant voters vote ignorant. If a person wants to vote (make decisions) they should at least be somewhat literate and able to comprehend what they're voting on.

National elections would be financed by the public, equal amounts of money and air time for all candidates, and done in 3 months' time not 3 years of stumping.

I can think of hundreds of changes I would make, too many to list.

But, these ideas would probably be hard to push on an infantile society where most everyone believes they are entitled to whatever they want, when they want it, simply b/c they want it, be it come via a big check or a little check from the guvmint.

America needs to grow up. Hardnosed huh?

Kate-A said...

Thanks. Clint speaks the truth on that one, but I don't know how he could have "enjoyed" it if he felt that way about it. Hehehehe.

It doesn't seem all that hardnosed to me, but what do I know? :)

The only things that seem much different to the way I myself feel are the implied idea that we don't have to do anything about population, and the idea that we should let the lazy starve.

I feel strongly that we do need to manage our population unless we want Nature to do it without consulting us.

And I'd give basic necessities even to the ones who seem lazy and useless, since (a) there isn't really enough work to go around anyway, (b) being lazy and useless is truly a kind of mental disability, since most people want the rewards (social, mental, physical) that come from doing something useful, and (c) what looks from the outside like someone being lazy and useless might really be someone doing something important that takes all their time (example: J.K.Rowling living on the dole while she wrote the first Harry Potter book)

I agree we cannot let people starve, and we don't and won't. And there's nothing wrong with someone needing a helping hand sometimes - but here in the hood I'm looking at 3 generations of welfare. That is no longer a hand-up but a lifelong generational prison - and it is not producing good people.

We should shame unplanned out of wedlock pregnancies as socially unacceptable, just as we do smokers and dopers - b/c in the long run it's not good for ya, or those around you. When someone's lifestyle choice becomes my responsibility too, that's going to far.

I encourage folks to be self-employed if they can't find a job. I've seen the "jobless" making a decent living from barber, childcare, car detailing, etc. from their own home with little startup. People have lost their creativity to survive b/c they expect Big Daddy Guvmint to take care of them. Too much of a good thing has made a dysfunctional society.

I hope Rowling repaid her "dole" so someone else could use it.
