Republicans Appreciated The Show

April 2007 - Rep. John Murtha, D-Pennsylvania, told CNN's John Roberts that President Bush's strategy of increasing troops in Iraq is "a failed policy wrapped in illusion." (Murtha had watched a re-run of Stone's JFK and was impressed by David Ferrie's enigma speech.)

After Thanksgiving trip 2007 - Murtha says surge is working. "I think the surge is working, but that's only one element," said Murtha ... and the surge is working for a couple of different reasons. And one reason is the increase in troops." (Duh, surge = increase.)

Today Nancy Pelosi, with clenched teeth and carefully painted eyebrows, offered no comment on Murtha's comments.

(Privately, Nancy tells Murtha "you're unfuckingbelievable", and Murtha, again using a line from David Ferrie, responded "Really, what part?")
