A Mom of Their Own

There are few things in life more difficult than seeing a loved one go off to war. And here in Idaho, a mom named Tammy Pruett -- (applause) -- I think she's here -- (laughter) -- knows that feeling six times over. (Applause.) Tammy has four sons serving in Iraq right now with the Idaho National Guard -- Eric, Evan, Greg and Jeff. Last year, her husband Leon and another son, Eren, returned from Iraq, where they helped train Iraqi firefighters in Mosul. Tammy says this -- and I want you to hear this -- "I know that if something happens to one of the boys, they would leave this world doing what they believe, what they think is right for our country. And I guess you couldn't ask for a better way of life than giving it for something that you believe in." America lives in freedom because of families like the Pruetts. (Applause.)

This reminded me of the lady from Iraq, who just happened to sit in front of Laura Bush...the one I am sure they flew in to say how happy the Iraqui people were to have us liberate them.
Makes one want to hurl.

It makes me want to hurl too, a grenade.

"I guess you couldn't ask for a better way of life than giving it for something that you believe in."

If a brown guy with a beard said that, they'd call it incitement of suicide-bombing.

Will GI broodmare Pruett be disappointed if her khaki loinfruit all make it back, or does she just talk a good bereavement?

Lol. Broodmare and khaki loinfruit? I like that.

Language is a weapon; one of the few weapons avaliable to pacifists. The older I get, the more I value potent creative brevity.

Anonymouse mentions "the lady from Iraq, who just happened to sit in front of Laura Bush...the one I am sure they flew in to say how happy the Iraqui people were to have us liberate them."

UK paper of record, "The Independant" is reportortiong that this convenient inky-fingered champion of imposed democracy now has profound reservations:
"When we came back from exile, we thought we were going to improve rights and the position of women. But look what has happened: we have lost all the gains we made over the past 30 years. It's a big disappointment. Human rights should not be linked to Islamic sharia law at all. They should be listed separately in the constitution."

Oops. Guess she won't be sitting next to Laura Bush again.
